ACCT History

A History of Service to the Community

ACCT began in 1985 as a grassroots organization dedicated to providing support to people affected by the growing AIDS crisis. Led by Dr. Richard Pollard, the group incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1987. As the medical and political landscape evolved, Federal programs became available to support people living with HIV access housing and medical resources. With a new focus on helping clients access much-needed Federal services, ACCT’s mission expanded in the 1990s.

Throughout the 2000s, ACCT continued to grow, adding new programs and partnerships to better serve our clients.

ACCT is proud of our 40 year legacy of supporting our clients and working toward our vision of HIV free communities and lives.
